      When I wrote Doctor Talos, I knew he was unpleasant, but I was surprised by the depths of people’s distain for him. I have never written a character who received more threats.

        it’s because of gaslighting an old man into thinking he’s crazy for me. it’s just actually cruel and realistic in a way an evil looming big bad guy like malcorona will never succeed. it’s the comparison between mundane evil people that an average person can experience in their daily life vs a distant magical powerful evil that doesn’t do all that much by comparison. people can also relate to a friendship betrayal, but someone slaughering your entire village some years ago – not so much, thankfully…
