If you’re joining in, share your Alder Tree Moon art on May 11th, 12th, or 13th.

The Flexible Willow Tree

The Lunar Tree in phase during this month’s full moon is the Willow Tree, which symbolizes flexibility. The symbolic meanings of the willows are actually a bit more literal than the meanings of the other trees. Obviously, a willow is a physically flexible tree, so it’s symbolic meaning is no surprise. Willows are also associated with healing, due to the variety of medicines that can be made from willow bark. Willows are also the tree most commonly associated with the moon, since willows can grow in wet soil and the moon has a strong effect on water.

BONUS TREE

The next tree in the Lunar Tree Calendar is the Hawthorn Tree. Regrettably, there will be no full moon during the time of the Hawthorn Tree this year. So, Hawthorn is not part of the Full Moon Art Challenge this year. HOWEVER if you want a complete set of all thirteen trees, you can make a piece of Hawthorn Tree art any time from May 13th to June 9th. This tree symbolizes hope (as in, “I hope there’s time to make extra tree art this season.”)

June and the Oak Moon

The next Full Moon Tree is the Oak Tree, which is a symbol of courage. Post your Oak Moon art on June 10th, 11th, or 12th.
