Hazel Trees in a Nutshell

Hazel trees represent wisdom and insight. The saying “In a nutshell” is suspected to be a reference to the Hazel Tree specifically, as Hazel Trees are know for both symbolizing wisdom and dispensing nuts.

The season of the Hazel Tree was not chosen for metaphorical reasons, it was chosen due to its relation to the Hazelnut Harvest. August to September is the time when the green nuts become more visible on the branches.

Hazelnuts are highly coveted by wildlife, so harvesters will need to gather them as soon as they fall. Perhaps the fact that only clever foragers will be find the nuts before they vanish may be a reason why this tree was chosen as icon of wisdom.

September Vines

The vine, a symbol of connections will have its season next. Post your Vine Tree Moon art on September 6th, 7th, or 18th.
