You pirates are lucky that this is Chapter Thirteen. Five or ten chapters ago, Draconis definitely would have left you to die.

Originally, I had a different first panel in mind for this comic, which was funnier, but not as well written:

Snakey's line was funny, but, as I was drawing the scene, I realized that, after all the careful discussions in this chapter, I didn't want the captain to reveal that he had information on a monster the moment that the monster appeared. It reminded me of that direct-to-video Little Mermaid sequel where Ursula's sister attacks and Sebastian just announces her identity and everyone acts like they always knew about her. That scene was pretty much universally mocked.

Anyway, I guess I told you about all of that behind-the-scenes stuff so you could enjoy this joke as a deleted panel without it tripping up the story.
