IT IS TIME!
I’m doing the Full Moon Art Challenge for the fifth year in a row, making a work of art for each moon in 2026, including the rare Blue Moon in May. WHO’S WITH ME?!
This year, we’re back to using the classic North American moon names as our art prompts, which means starting with December’s Wolf Moon.
For my personal medium, I’ve decided to do all 13 moons in pixel art. I always choose a kind of art I want to brush up on. I’ve been doing a bit more with pixels lately, so it feels like a good skill to practice.

I’m also making a bonus piece. I have a mostly blank moonlit landscape. Each month, I’ll be adding a new piece to the scene until all twelve moon names are represented.
Here’s the barren landscape:

Can’t Get Enough Full Moon Art?
If you need a little help keeping up with the full moons this year, or if you just really like full moon art, I may have just the things for you.
My Lunar Calendar for 2026 is still on sale. I usually keep the calendars up for a few weeks after the new year starts, so if you want to know the moon phase for every night, don’t miss out and don’t wait.
But, if you want something more timeless, my mini-book, Months and Moons, is also on sale in the shop. This book collects all my paintings from the first Full Moon Art Challenge and matches them with an original poem that describes their names.
February’s Snow
Next month’s full moon is the Snow Moon on February 1st. Be sure to get your Snow Moon art ready for posting on January 31st, February 1st. or February 2nd.
