Holly in July

The tree is phase during July’s full moon is the Holly Tree. Yes, Holly is technically a tree, not a bush as I had previously thought. It is technically a type of evergreen.

The Holly Tree is a symbol of Love and Life. It can also be associated with protection, leadership, and primal energy.

Usually, Holly is thought of as a winter plant, due to the fact that it never loses it’s green leaves, even in the bitterest cold. Interesting that the Holly was also given a season in July, on the other side of the year. There is some vague speculation that late June/early July was chosen as the time of the Holly so this tree could be acknowledged at both the winter solstice and the summer solstice, thus tying the year together.

Hazel in August

The Hazel Tree comes into phase next month. Hazel is a symbol of wisdom. Post your Hazel Moon art on August 8th, 9th, or 10th.
